Which club? Your own numbers answer it
Nine Iron is a golf club-picker app for iPhone and Apple Watch. You set a distance, and the biggest thing on the screen is the club to hit. The answer comes from shots you logged yourself, so it reflects how far you really hit each club, not how far a chart says you should.
New to tracking your distances? Pick a starting level and you get an answer on day one. Each number is labeled as a starting point until your own shots replace it.
A separate number for the course, the range and the bay
A 7-iron off a mat in a bay and a 7-iron from a fairway are not the same shot. Nine Iron keeps a number for each place and never averages them together. Every number says what it is: yours, rough (only a few shots so far), estimated from your other clubs, or a starting point.
What's in it
- Club answer. Set any distance in 1-yard steps, in yards or metres, with or without a course picked.
- Your bag. All your clubs on one page, with a yardage card you can share.
- Shot log. Log from your phone or your watch, or measure a shot with GPS.
- Courses and GPS. Add a course by name, then set each green by standing on it.
- Score. Keep score for a round or a bay game.
- Bay practice. Targets, house clubs and a photo of the bay screen to save its numbers.
- Swing review. Film a swing and see tempo and head movement, worked out on your phone.
- Competition mode. Hides club picks and shows distance only, designed to help you follow Rule 4.3.
